While the center of Wayne is in Radnor Township in Delaware County, it extends into both Tredyffrin Township in Chester County and Upper Merion Township in Montgomery County. The center of downtown Wayne at the intersection of Lancaster Avenue and Wayne Avenue was designated the Downtown Wayne Historic District in 2012. The historic Wayne Train station (on the SEPTA Paoli/Thorndale line) is right in the center of it all, with many restaurants and shops, a movie theater, and a hotel. The downtown area also hosts a summer music festival and a fall festival.
Schools in the area depend on which township in you are in. Wayne is also home to Valley Forge Military Academy and College, with a monument from the Battle of the Bulge located near the parade ground. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia operate the St. Katharine of Siena School, a Catholic K-8 grade school in downtown Wayne.
