Wynnewood

Wynnewood is a community that straddles Lower Merion Township in Montgomery County, and Haverford Township in Delaware County. It was named in 1691 for Dr. Thomas Wynne, William Penn’s Physician and the first Speaker of the Pennsylvania General Assembly.

Wynnewood is home to Lankenau Hospital, St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, and Palmer Theological Seminary.
Schools include Merion Elementary, Penn Wynne Elementary, and Penn Valley Elementary, Bala Cynwyd Middle School, and both Lower Merion High School and Harriton Highschool. There is also Jewish-affiliated Solomon Schechter School, and the French International School.

Wynnewood is also home to the Wynnewood shopping center, which includes a Bed Bath and Beyond, Mad Mex, Giant, DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse, and many other restaurants and shops. There is also Wynnewood square across the street with a large new Whole Foods Shopping Center.
